Why MixLess
We make mixing tools that help you understand the changes you make. In Less Comp, the transfer curve sits beside the gain reduction meter, so the setting and its effect are read in one place. In Less Tube, you can compare four saturation models and use the readouts to explore how each one responds.
What stays free
Less Gain Stage, Less Meter, Less Comp and Less Limiter will remain free. You do not need to buy Less Tube to use them. Less Tube is a separate paid product, and it gets the same development and validation work as the free tools.
Why the name
Mixing tends to accumulate tools. Our position is the opposite: fewer tools, each showing what it is doing, so the decision stays with you rather than with the plugin chain. We know what you're hearing, and how few plugins and how little processing you need. The name and the minimal design language follow from that, and so does the closing line on every page: Less is more.
Built with the community
We want the community involved in how these tools get built. Three ways to do that:
- Become a beta tester: write to [email protected] and we add you to the field test group.
- Post your feedback and wishes on the community page.
- Share us where musicians talk, and if you have an opinion about us, say it out loud.
Beyond these, [email protected] reaches us any time. MixLess is an independent plugin brand. Serving the musician community is the reason it exists, and that does not change.

Boilerplate
MixLess™ is an independent audio software brand. Four of its mixing tools are free for everyone: a loudness meter, a compressor, a limiter and a gain tool, for macOS (AU, VST3) and Windows (VST3). The valve stage, Less Tube, is the paid one and is in field testing. The plugins are developed and validated with care, and the behaviour described on the site is measured on the build we test.
